Summary:PURPOSE:To minimize the voltage overshooting quantity of a power unit for laser by changing the set output voltage value of a regulating device in two stage of a set value equal to a required output voltage and another set value which is calculated by subtracting the overshooting quantity at the preceding charge controlling time from the required output voltage. CONSTITUTION:The first charging of a bank capacitor 2 is started at time t0 and the charging is completed at time t1 while an overshooting quantity V1 is left. Then discharging is started at time t2 and, at the same time, this power unit is prepared for the next charging time by changing the set output voltage value to a corrected set output voltage value Vcs given to AVR 13 (Vcs=Vcso- V2) so as to set the required output voltage Vc to its required value Vcso. When the discharging is completed until the output voltage Vc becomes zero at time t3, the second charging is started, with the set value being lowered by V2 by estimating the overshooting quantity at V2, and completed at time t4. The set value Vcs is changed to the required set value Vcso at time (t4+ t).
