Summary:PURPOSE:To automatically and continuously measure the chlorophyll concentration without executing the maintenance for a long period by washing the inside surface of a cylindrical body, and feeding and discharging water into and from the cylindrical body by a wiper provided in a transparent cylindrical body having a light shielding structure against the outside of a case. CONSTITUTION:A case 1 is installed in a prescribed depth in the water by a cable 12. In such a state, when a wiper 5 is allowed to ascend by driving a motor 7, and water is poured into a transparent cylindrical body 42 from a water pouring hole 45, a previous water in the cylindrical body 42 is drained simultaneously. Subsequently, from a hot-cathode fluorescent tube 20 provided by placing the cylindrical body 42 in between, light is radiated to water in the cylindrical body 42, and by comparing light which passes through a filter for radiating light of specific wavelength to chlorophyll, and light which does not pass through a filter, chlorophyll concentration is measured. After the measurement is finished, when the wiper 5 is allowed to descend, water moves through a cavity part 52 and a through-hole 54 from a guidance hole 57, and water which remains in the cylindrical body 4 is discharged at the time of drawing up the wiper 5 the next time. In such a way, the inside surface of the cylindrical body 4 is always washed by a reciprocating motion of the wiper 5 in the cylindrical body 4, and the measurement is always executed exactly together with a light shielding effect of a cover body 43.
