Summary: | PURPOSE:To stabilize 2nd harmonic output stability by detecting the intensity of output light and controlling the temperature of a temperature variation means so that the intensity becomes maximum. CONSTITUTION:When the wavelength converting element which generates a 2nd harmonic while meeting phase matching requirements projects and outputs the 2nd harmonic of >=1mW, the best phase matching requirements possibly deviate from initial set requirements owing to variation of refractive index due to optical damage. A photodetecting element 8 detects the output of the 2nd harmonic and the phase matching requirements are optimized by applying a voltage to nonlinear optical crystal 1 or performing control by a temperature controller 10 so that the output comes to constant. Consequently, even if the optical damage is caused, the 2nd harmonic output which is stable is obtained without depending upon the output intensity nor element structure. |
