Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce the time for an optical fiber to pass through a die by bringing resin-coated dies provided in multiple stages together at one region and passing the optical fiber through the dies. CONSTITUTION:When an optical fiber 3 is passed through resin-coated dies 4 and 6, first-stage resin curing devices 5 are separated, the second-stage die 6 is raised along a die guide 10 and registered with the first-stage die 4, and the optical fiber 3 is passed through the dies 4 and 6 under these conditions. Only one passage of the optical fiber through the dies 4 and 6 is enough in this case. When the passage is finished, the die 6 is lowered along the die guide 10 to the original position, and the separated curing devices 5 are integrated. Consequently, the time for the optical fiber to pass through the dies is reduced.
