Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce manufacture cost and improve display quality by forming an electrode other than a picture element electrode of a transparent conductive film and an opaque conductive film, and extending a part of the opaque conductive film along the external edge of the picture element electrode and superposing it upon the external edge. CONSTITUTION:On a transparent insulating substrate 601, one electrode for a storage capacity element which consists of a gate electrode and scanning line 602, the transparent conductive film 603, and the opaque metallic film 604 is formed. Then an SiNx film 605 which is a dielectric and inter-layer insulating film for two-layer wiring for a gate insulating film and storage capacity element is formed thereupon, and a semiconductor thin film 606 and a transparent picture element electrode 607 are formed on the film 605. This transparent picture element electrode 607 serves as the other electrode which constitutes the storage capacity element. The opaque metallic film 604 extends along the external edge of the transparent picture element electrode 607 and is superposed upon three sides which face the drain electrode and signal line 609 among the four sides of the external edge of a rectangle. Consequently, the manufacture cost is reduced and the display quality is improved.
