Summary:PURPOSE:To substantially prevent the sticking of water drops to a mirror surface and to obtain a good visual field by providing the electrochromic mirror having a surface film formed by yttrium-stabilized zirconia contg. specific molar % of yttrium oxide. CONSTITUTION:The film of a transparent electrode 3 constituted of tin oxide- indium oxide, etc., is formed by a method, such as vacuum deposition, on the rear surface of a transparent glass substrate 2 and further, the electrochromic layer 4 and an electrode film 5 in common use as a metallic reflection film are laminated by a method, such as vacuum deposition. The coating 1 formed of the yttrium-stabilized zirconia contg. 2 to 5mol% yttrium oxide is obtd. on the surface of the glass substrate 2. The yttrium-stabilized zirconia has a large contact angle with water and has a high water repellency and, therefore, the water drops hardly stick on the mirror surface and the good visual field is obtd. Since the light which partly reflects on the surface of this mirror coating 1 and the boundary of the coating 1 and the glass 2 shows a brown color having the relation of the complementary color with a blue color, the unnaturality of the projected image at the time of the antidazzle of the electrochromic mirror is eliminated.
