Summary:PURPOSE:To extremely sharply record an additional image at a specific speed by allowing an additional image recording means to record an additional image on the rear part of a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:After paper is ejected from a fixing device 8 and its trailing edge passes by a fixing completion detecting switch 52, an ink ribbon motor is started up to make an additional data recording mechanism 9 operable. In this case, the backward end of the paper and an ink ribbon 67 lie between the periphery of a thermal head 34 and that of a platen roller 55. A step motor is intermittently driven step by step until it is driven by 80 steps. During this period, the head 34 sequentially records one line of additional data. In such a way, the step motor is stopped for each line, and the head 34 records additional data. Then, contents of additional data are clearly recorded.
