Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce the electric power loss and deterioration by supplying a heater voltage control circuit with a heater voltage discontinuously according to the detection outputs of temperature detecting means unless an image is displayed. CONSTITUTION:A heater voltage control circuit 9 is provided which supplies the heater voltage discontinuously according to the detection outputs of the temperature detecting means 7 and 8 when no image is displayed on the screen of a cathode-ray tube 4. Then the heater heating voltage of the cathode-ray tube in a monitor OFF state is held constant while the heater temperature is detected. Consequently, the power consumption is reduced and the life of the heater of the cathode-ray tube display device which needs to be preheated can be prolonged.
