Summary:PURPOSE:To provide satisfactory corrosion resistance and to secure strength standard without performing solution treatment by subjecting a stainless steel in which composition, structure, and yield strength are respectively specified to roughing at a specific temp., performing reheating and hot working, and then applying air cooling to the resulting shape steel. CONSTITUTION:An austenitic stainless steel which has a composition consisting of, by weight, <=0.03% C, <=1.00% Si, 0.30-2.00% Mn, <=0.040% P, <=0.03% S, 17-20% Cr, 7.0-10.5% Ni, 0.06-0.14% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and in which the amount of residual ferrite or martensite is regulated to <=10% and also 0.1% yield strength is regulated to 24kgf/mm is used as a stock. This steel is heated to 1000-1250 deg.C to undergo roughing and is then heated again to 1000-1250 deg.C to undergo hot working. Subsequently, the above steel is formed into a shape steel at 850-1000 deg.C, followed by air cooling. By this method, an austenitic stainless steel shape for building construction members can be obtained only by a hot rolling stage.
