Summary:PURPOSE:To make it possible to deal with various formats by providing a right margin/left margin storage part, frame memory, a position comparison part, a format control command part and an output control part. CONSTITUTION:Print data is converted to an print image using dots by a received data conversion part 1. This print image converted in dots is stored in frame memory 2 in which print image of a single page is stored. In the meantime, a left margin and a right margin are stored in a margin storage part 3, and the position of a print image in frame memory 2 relative to a margin setting value is detected by a position comparison part 4. This detected relative position value and a print image from frame memory 2 are entered in an output control part 5. The print image thus entered is processed based on the relative position value in accordance with a command from a format control command part 6 and the processed print image is printed on printing paper 7.
