Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce unnecessary power consumption and to prolong the life of the battery of a selective call receiver by receiving a message correspondence code and receiving following message codes when it is judged from the received code that the message contents change from last received message contents. CONSTITUTION:In the reception period of a group that a certain receiver belongs to, its control circuit 40 matches a received individual number code (ID) code with the ID code of the receiver and an ID code for service which are stored previously on an ID-ROM 5 respectively. Consequently, when the ID code for service to this receiver is detected, a service information number code Sno which is received successively is compared with a service information number code which is received last and stored in an area 12a of an S-RAM 12. Then it is decided that the Sno changes, a radio circuit 2 and a demodulating circuit 3 are held in a receiving operation state. Therefore, following service information which arrives is received.
