Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the slipperiness and enable turning into a roll by forming a glass fiber mat by the wet type paper-making process from alkali-containing glass fiber of a specific dia., and attaching alkali resin binder to this glass fiber mat. CONSTITUTION:A glass fiber mat for battery is fabricated by the wet type paper-making process. The glass fiber is composed of 50-95wt.% alkali- containing glass fiber of a mean dia. 13-15mum and 5-50wt.% alkali-containing glass fiber of a mean dia. 17-21mum. This yields a glass mat having good slipperiness and a small electric resistance. To this glass fiber mat of the mentioned composition, acrylic resin binder having a glass transfer point 30-80 deg.C is attached in an amount 15-25wt% of the weight of glass fiber mat. This enables turning into a roll.
