Summary:PURPOSE:To make settling down of a caisson easily controlled by dividing a plurality of cutting edges into a number of blocks, and by making the settlement of the caisson with vibration given to the cutting edges when making excavation for the cutting edge sections and also when making forcible insertion of the cutting edges one after another. CONSTITUTION:The lower part, lower than the position of a pressure-resisting plate 12, of an outer guide plate 11 and a lower rib of each of cutting edges 10 that are divided into a plurality of blocks are thrust into the ground, and a cutting edge section in a rectangular shape is formed with each of the cutting edges 10 fixed each other with bolts. After building a caisson 18 to be settled, jacks 20 are arranged in a space in the caisson 18. Then a press-fit plate 23 is forced into the ground first with a forcing jack 25 with vibration produced by an electric vibrator 26 applied thereto, and the plate 23 is made to slide between the cutting edge 10 and the natural ground. Excavation is further made to each block of the cutting edge section and after this, the cutting edge 10 is forced into the ground with the jacks 20 with vibration produced by the vibrator 26 applied thereto.
