Summary:PURPOSE:To regulate the weaving width with high accuracy by performing welding up to an n-4th weaving end point from a welding starting point based on teaching data prior to welding and obtaining an average value of welding currents in the vicinity of an almost intermediate part between the mutually continued weaving end points as a first reference. CONSTITUTION:At the time of arc-sensing horizontal plate base materials W1 and W2, welding is performed in order on first-forth weaving end points WP1-WP5 from the welding starting point P3 and the welding currents PI1-PI4 in the vicinity thereof are obtained. In addition, at the time of performing welding on between the end point WP1 and the end point WP2, an average current value Ic1 is calculated from the welding currents for a specified time at the intermediate position 20 between the end point WP1 and the end point WP2. Welding is then performed on between the end point WP4 and the end point WP5 and an average current Ic of the central part 20 thereof is obtained and the interval between the end point WP4 and the end point WP5 is known and the height of a welding torch is derived by comparing the average current Ic with the average current Ic1. Consequently, even if the groove width is changed, the weaving width can be regulated with high accuracy.
