Summary:PURPOSE:To control biaxial vibrations in a horizontal plane, by driving and controlling, in association with a vibration signal from vibration detectors, an additional weight which may be horizontally moved by either one of two actuators having their driving directions at right angles to each other. CONSTITUTION:Linear guide bearings 30a, 30b connect between an additional weight 24 and couplings 22a, 22b, and allows the weight 24 to freely move in the directions which are right angles to the driving directions of the couplings 22a, 22b. The components of vibrtions are detected by vibration detectors 2a, 2b. For example, with respect to vibrations in the direction of X-axis, a signal from the vibration detector 2a is delivered to a control circuit 3a to convert it into a displacement value, a speed values, etc. which are necessary for damping the X- axial vibrations of a building 1. An actuator 20a produces drive force through a power source in assocation with signals obtained by the computation of the control circuit.
