PURPOSE:To avoid the display of a signal not suitable for viewing by providing a function discriminating and executing whether or not a signal inputted at present is to be displayed as a TV signal through the input of a control signal. CONSTITUTION:A TV signal reproducer 11 outputs a control signal 14 representing the reproduction and output to a television receiver 12 while the recorded TV signal is reproduced and outputted and the receiver 12 uses a control signal from the reproducing device 11 to display the input signal as the TV signal. On the other hand, when the reproducer 11 cannot reproduce and output the TV signal to be recorded to the receiver 12, the receiver 12 discriminates the signal 14 representing it by a discrimination means 121. The discrimination output controls the switching means 122 to stop the display of the signal from the reproducer 11 as the TV signal. Then the signal is switched into a TV signal such as an external input signal inputted via a terminal 123 from other TV signal reproducer prepared in advance and the selected signal is displayed for the viewer.
