Summary:PURPOSE:To highly accurately decide the sort of traveling vehicle by comparing a time sequence feature corresponding to a series of inductance changes with the time sequence feature of each plural traveling vehicles to decide the sort of each vehicle. CONSTITUTION:At the time of detecting a vehicle, an output from a frequency measuring circuit 7 is applied to an inductance voltage storing circuit 11 through a frequency/ voltage conversion circuit 10. Simultaneously, a vehicle passage detecting circuit 14 starts the operation of a normalizing pattern forming circuit 12. A clock circuit 13 supplies sampling pulses necessary for the operation of the circuit 11. The circuit 12 successively reads out data stored by the circuit 11 and normalizes the read data in order to extract feature relating to a vehicle passed in accordance with a prescribed rule. The data are stored in the circuit 12 and referred by a vehicle sort deciding means 5 when necessary. The means 5 successively compares the data obtained from the circuit 12 with a typical data group of each vehicle sort to be decide previously stored in a sample storing means 4 and determines the data having the most approximate feature. The vehicle corresponding to the data is outputted from the means 5 as the vehicle sort practically passed.
