Summary:PURPOSE:To realize a wide allowable range in an application state, by making the width of a repetition light emitting pulse narrower than the period necessary for laser oscillation to move to a longitudinal mode and the period until a reflected light returyns, and setting the duty factor less than 50%. CONSTITUTION:Inverters 1a-1e connected in a ring type constitute a ring oscillator. Outputs of the inverters 1a-1e are set as nodes n1-n5, respectively. The inputs of an AND circuit 2 are connected with the node n4 and the node n5. The output of the AND circuit 2 is connected with the gate electrode of a driving FET 3. The oscillation period of the ring oscillator is twice the product of the delay time of one stage of the inverters 1a-1e and the number of stage (five in this case). The duty factor of driving pulses is 10%. Thereby the driving of a laser diode wherein adjustment is unnecessitated and the allowable range in an application state is wide can be realized.
