Summary:PURPOSE:To let coating material dispense with organic solution by applying coating material the viscosity of which is adjusted in such a way that water is added to aqueous emulsified silicone oil, on a hermetic terminal so as to be dried and then baked thereafter, and thereby forming a water repellent film. CONSTITUTION:The outer and inner exposed faces A and B of glass 4 which insulate a lead wire 3 from a metallic ring 1, is formed with a water repellent film 7. The exposed faces A and B are applied with coating material which is diluted to several % in such a way that water is added to aqueous emulsified silicone oil till non-volatile residue will be 2 to 5% by weight, by spraying and/or dipping methods so that the water repellent film is thereby formed. In the second place, coating material applied to glass 4 is dried in air, and is then baked so that the exposed faces A and B are formed with the water repellent film 7 as required. The water repellent film 7 thus formed prevents insulating resistance and voltage resistance between the metallic ring 1 and the lead wire 3 from being lowered. Since no organic solution is contained in coating material, methods as described above are inexpensive and free of pollution, thereby lowering the cost of manufacture.
