Summary:PURPOSE:To detect conveying abnormality without using a sensor by mounting a diode on each of the drive circuits of motors for rollers to convey a sheet in a way that the rollers are alternately the drive side and the follower side, and comparing a voltage between the diode on the follower side and a motor coil with a reference voltage. CONSTITUTION:A sheet 1 is conveyed through alternative drive of rollers 3 and 5 through the medium of guide rollers 2 and 4. When the roller 3 drives, the roller 4 is driven, and the rollers 3,4 are alternately drive or driven side. A diode 13 is mounted on a drive control circuit 10 for each of the motors 7 and 8. When the motor 8 is on the follower side, motor drivers 10b are all brought into an OFF-state, and a generated back electromotive current I0 flows through the diode 13 to a power source (d) after the flow of it through an earth point (a). The waveform of a voltage at a point (b) is changed when the conveying speed of the sheet 1 is disturbed, and the voltage is compared with a reference voltage by a comparator 14 and it is decided that conveying abnormality occurs. Thus, easy monitoring is carried out without using a sensor.
