CONSTITUTION:A burner 3 with at least three nozzles (h) arranged in a straight line is used and set so that the nozzles (h) are made parallel to optical fibers 1. A proper temp. distribution is rendered to the optical fibers 1 with the fixed burner 3 by properly regulating the diameter of the nozzles (h), the interval between the nozzles (h) and situation. A burner moving mechanism is unnecessitated and an optical fiber coupler having nearly uniform characteristics can be obtd.
