Summary:PURPOSE:To suppress the deterioration of image quality due to the damage to a cathode point, and to achieve longevity of an image display device by providing plurality of cathode points in one electrode hole. CONSTITUTION:Cavities 24a and electrode holes 25a are provided on an insulating film 24 and on a gate electrode 25, while plurality of cathode points 26 are arranged in each cavity 24a (or electrode hole 25a) on a base electrode 23. In case one cathode point 26 is broken, the display can be carried out on the electrode hole 25a by the irradiation electron flow from the holder cathode points 26, and a bad effect to an image quality due to the damage given to the cathode point can be suppressed to a lower degree. Since the cathode point 26 can be provided in the position decentered in the gate electrode hole 25a, the voltage decrease caused by the current running in the gate electrode 25 can be suppressed to a lower level. Thereby the working life of the device can be expected to be longer, and the quality of display can be improved.
