PURPOSE:To improve the operability with simple structure by providing a prescribed time interval given from a delay means between the production of an end instruction of data transmission reception and the end of line connection. CONSTITUTION:As soon as a carrier sent from a MODEM 32 to a public telephone line is interrupted, an analog switch 72 is reset and the line connection for substantial communication is terminated. Then a timer 48 is started again and the progress of flow is awaited and when the operator is able to turn on a switch SW1 during this time, even when a switch SW2 is turned off, a line connection at a telephone set 22 annexed to the system is kept to attain the communication with other station. When a prescribed time elapses after the restart of the timer, the SW2 is turned off and when the switch SW1 is also turned off, the line with the opposite station is not completely interrupted, and the changeover of communication state is attained easily and the data communication equipment with simple structure and excellent operability is obtained.
