Summary:PURPOSE:To improve production efficiency and to reduce the producing time by rewinding an optical fiber with one end connected to a light source for supplying a power source through a slip ring by a rotatable bobbin from the other end, detecting the monitoring light incident to the optical fiber with a photodetector on the other end side to monitor the branching ratio, fusing and drawing the fiber. CONSTITUTION:The optical fibers 1 and 2 are rewound from the bobbins 3 and 4, connected to the V-groove of a V-groove splicer 15 and connected to photodetectors 13 and 14 through optical switches 16 and 18. Meanwhile, the photodetector is connected to the other ends of the fibers 1 and 2. An electric signal for supplying power to the LD light sources 5 and 9, while light source 6 and plane of polarization rotating light source 8 and for switching light sources is transmitted to optical switches 7 and 10 through slip rings 11 and 12 for relaying the fixed terminal to the rotary terminal of the bobbins 3 and 4 through a slide member. The wavelength dependency of the white light when the fibers 1 and 2 are fused and drawn is measured, the LD light is monitored to inspect the branching ratio, and the optical coupler is produced. Consequently, the production efficiency is improved, and the producing time is reduced.
