Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain an optimum image density regardless of the room temperature by controlling the intensity of beam at the time of exposure responding to the temperature of an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:A means 15 which outputs measured signal responding to the temperature of the image carrier 1 and a means 16 which controls the intensity of beam emitted from an exposure means 11 so that the image density is made constant responding to the measured signal are provided. Then the output of driving circuit 18 is controlled to change the intensity of the beam from the exposure device 11 so that it becomes the intensity of beam recognized by referring a storing part 17 where the intensity of the beam at the time of exposure when the optimum image density is obtained according to the temperature of the image carrier 1 responding to the measured signal from the control part 16. Thus, the optimum depth of an electrostatic latent image is always obtained and the optimum image density is obtained.
