Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent deformation of lance by providing the lance that is stopped in engagement in a connector housing as well as an engagement part that engages with a free end of the lance, and by extending the free end of the lance into the engagement part in the vicinity of the free end of the lance. CONSTITUTION:When a contact 10 is to be inserted in a housing 11, a projected part 16 is fitted thereto from the front part in an inserting direction of the contact 10, and is inserted into the housing 11. A pressure is given to a lance 12 in a direction D indicated by an arrow, by a projected part 18, and it is installed in the housing 11 in a state that the lance 12 is curved in the arrowed direction D. When the contact 10 is inserted up to a predetermined position, a free end 15 of the lance 12 is elastically returned to the engagement position with the projected part 18, and, due to the engagement between the projected part 18 and the lance 12, the contact 10 is never to fall in a reverse direction to an arrow C. Since a stabilizer 14a is provided so as to prevent rotation of the contact 10, positioning at a predetermined position in the housing 11 is ensured.
