Summary:PURPOSE:To form carbon film having the specific characteristic on interface between a mold and a casting at the time of casting by manufacturing the mold with use of binder containing acid setting resin and non-acid setting resin in the specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:Molten iron at 1,200 - 1,800 deg.C is poured into a mold molded with the binder containing organic binder as the essential component, and the carbon film having the characteristic as shown in the table 1 is formed on the interface between the mold and the casting. For this purpose, the binder is composed of the acid setting resin A selected from furan series resin, phenol series resin or urea series resin and the non-acid setting resin B selected from the table 2, and the blending ratio of A and B is made to B/A+B = 0.1 - 0.5 based on wt. ratio of solid contents. In this result, as the carbon film in the table 1 can be formed, even in the case of wholly or almost saving facing agent, roughness of the surface in the casting can be prevented.
