Summary:PURPOSE:To establish a simple determining method for saccharies characterized by excellent sensitivty and a low cost by making sugar react with alkali hydroxide, and measuring the amount of chemiluminescence by a chemiluminedescence method. CONSTITUTION:Saccharides are made to react with alkali hydroxide, and the amount of chemiluminescence is measured by a chemiluminescence method. Thus the quantity of the sugar is determined. As the saccharides to be deter mined, monsaccharide, oligosaccharide, polysaccharide and preferably glucose can be listed. As the alkaly hydroxide, the hydroxide of alkali metal, e.g. lithium hydroxide, solium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and the like can be listed. As the chemiluminescence method of the product formed by the reaction of the saccharides and the alkali hydroxide, luminol reaction and the like are listed. This determining method is characterized by a broader measuring range in comparison with a glucose oxidase method, high density, excellent reproducibility and reliabilty and simple and handling.
