Summary:PURPOSE:To remarkably shorten a detection period by capturing anaerobic bacteria in a specimen solution with a filter, subjecting the captured bacteria to a specific treatment and subsequently measuring adenosine-3-phosphoric acid in the bacteria remaining on the filter. CONSTITUTION:A specimen solution containing anaerobic bacteria is filtered through a filter having pore sizes of <=0.45 mum to capture the bacteria on the filter. The captured bacteria are inoculated on an agar-containing medium and cultured under an anaerobic atmosphere for 12-48 hours. The filter after the culture is washed with a washing liquid to remove the medium components adhered to the filter, followed by measuring the amount of adenosine-3- phosphoric acid in the bacteria remained on the filter.
