PURPOSE:To minimize a slit at the top dead center of a piston for improving volumetric efficiency by storing an intake plate-like valve body in a recess formed at a part being an end on a cylinder side of a bulkhead including an intake port. CONSTITUTION:In a compressor having a piston 31 slidably placed in a cylinder 39 of a casing 3, an intake plate-like valve body 37 for opening/closing an intake port and an exhaust plate-like valve body 57 for opening/closing an exhaust port, a recess 101 is formed at a part being an end on the side of the cylinder 39 of a bulkhead 41 including an intake port 53, and the intake plate-like valve body 57 is housed in it. The intake plate-like valve body 57 is attached being completely housed inside the recess 101 so that it does not protrude from the bulkhead 41. Therefore nothing interferes with the piston 31 at the top dead center of the piston 31 permitting a slit between the piston 31 and the bulkhead 41 to be set at minimum so that volumetric efficiency can be improved.
