PURPOSE:To obtain a rustproof steel sheet with a thin plating layer having superior corrosion resistance by forming a Zn-Cu eutectoid plating layer having a specified compsn. and a plating layer of a specified element by double plating on the surface of a steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:When a Zn alloy plated steel sheet having superior corrosion resistance used in a corrosive environment as a steel sheet for vehicles such as an automobile, a steel sheet for building or a steel sheet for electrical appliances is produced, a Zn-Cr eutectoid plating layer consisting of 5-40wt.% Cr and the balance Zn or further contg. one or more among Fe, Ni, Co, Mn, Mo, Cu, Pb, Sn, Sb and P by a smaller amt. than each of the amts. of the Cr and Zn and a plating layer of one or more among Zn, Fe, Ni, Co, Mn, Cr, Al, Mg, Si, Mo, Cu, Pb, Sn, Ti, Sb and P are formed by double plating. A double-plated rustproof steel sheet having superior corrosion resistance in an environment having alternate dryness and wetness is obtd.
