Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a gas separation membrane having high heat resistance and slight in a lowering of separation capacity by forming unsaturated polyester having a structure represented by a specific general formula into a film. CONSTITUTION:Unsaturated polyester having a structure represented by formula I [wherein X is a group represented by formula II (R is hydrogen or a 5C or less alkyl group), Y is a group represented by formula III, Z is a group represented by formula IV and m and n are a repeating number] and containing the Y-component and the Z-component in a mol ratio of 5/95-99/1 is dissolved in a solvent to prepare a raw film forming solution which is, in turn, applied to or cast on a smooth base plate and the solvent is removed at crosslinking start temp. or less to obtain a gas separation membrane having a thickness of 20mum or less and regarded as a substantially homogenous membrane having no pore having a pore size of 1nm or more. This gas separation membrane is excellent in heat resistance and humidity resistance and slight in a lowering of a separation factor even when wet gas is introduced.
