Summary:PURPOSE:To carry out mode scanning of a fault image and mode scanning of Doppler in a digital delay system by providing a means for controlling the gain of a received signal in front of a circuit for digitalizing the received signal. CONSTITUTION:The gain of a gain control circuit 1CB provided in front of an analog/digital converter (A/D-C) 10C in a digital signal receiving system 10 is change over in accordance with B-mode scanning and D-mode scanning, and accordingly, there are produced a B-mode signal and a D-mode signal having signal amplitudes corresponding to an input range of the analog/digital converter (A/D-C) 10C. Accordingly, by providing an attenuator 21 for attenuating the B-mode signal so as to have a signal amplitude substantially equal to that of the D-mode signal which is not attenuated, it is possible to carry out digital in-phase addition with the use of the analog-digital converter (A/D-C) 10C having an input range which meets the signal amplitude of an output of a preamplifier 10A.
