Summary:PURPOSE:To prevent the deposition and solidification of a metal in a cooling vessel by discharging the molten slag generated in a converter, etc., into the cooling vessel, separating the solidified slag and metal, and continuously treating the slag. CONSTITUTION:The molten slag generated in a converter, etc., is directly discharged into the cooling vessel 12 on a truck 11, and conveyed into a crushing building E to solidify the slag. The vessel 12 is then tilted by a tilting machine 13, hence the solidified slag and metal are dropped onto a grizzly 14, the metal is separated from the slag by a partition material 121 set on the bottom plate 122 of the vessel 12 and the drop impact, and the metal left on the grizzly 14 is discharged into a metal pit 15 by a cleaner 141. Meanwhile, the slag is crushed by the drop impact, and introduced into a skip car 20 through a chute 142. The car is hoisted for each charge, and turned by a dumper 21. The slag is charged into a slag truck 22 and then continuously cooled. By this method, slag and metal are easily separated, and the generation of a skull of metal in the vessel 12 is eliminated.
