Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the adhesion of Cr plating and to allow the plating to well exhibit the effects of rust preventiveness and corrosion resistance by immersing a stainless material in a Cr plating soln., electrolytically treating the material with polarity reverse to that at the time of plating and carrying out Cr plating. CONSTITUTION:A washed stainless material S is set in a Cr plating vessel 13. The polarity of the material S is reversed with a polarity reverser 21 fitted to a power source 20 and the material S is electrolytically treated with polarity reverse to that at the time of Cr plating to remove a passive film formed on the surface of the material S. After the material S is activated, the polarity is reversed and Cr electroplating is carried out. Since the activated material S is not exposed to the air, a passive film is not formed and the adhesion of the resulting Cr plating can be improved.
