Summary:PURPOSE:To move the title picture input device in an arbitrary direction, and to input a picture by providing plural roller parts to detect a moving amount in a sub-scanning direction, and altering and correcting the inputted picture data based on the difference of the speed of revolution between the rolls. CONSTITUTION:When a hand scanner 10 is manually moved in an arrow 18 direction, rolls 12 and 15 are rotated, pulse signals are outputted by optical sensors 14 and 17, and inputted to a control part. On the other hand, a picture signal inputted by a CCD line sensor 11 is converted into a digital signal, and converted and corrected according to the pulse signal from the respective optical sensor 14 and 17. That is, when the numbers of the pulse signals from the two optical sensors 14 and 17 have no difference, the hand scanner 10 is straightly moved, and when they have the difference, since the scanner 10 is curvedly scanned, the picture data inputted from the line sensor 11 is corrected according to a curvature. Thus, the picture can be inputted by moving the device in the arbitrary direction.
