Summary:PURPOSE:To improve discharge performance and safety by using a mixed solvent, consisting of propylene carbonate, dioxolane, and dimethoxyethane, into which LiCF3SO3 and a particular amount of LiClO4 are dissolved as an electrolyte for a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. CONSTITUTION:A lithium battery is fabricated by receiving a negative electrode 2 consisting of lithium or sodium and a positive electrode 1 consisting of manganese dioxide or carbon fluoride, each electrode being wound in a spiral form, in a battery can 5 and injecting a nonaqueous electrolyte therein. As the electrolyte, a mixed solvent, consisting of propylene carbonate, dioxolane and dimethoxyethane, is used, and LiCF3SO3 is used as a main solute and furthermore LiClO4 of 0.001-0.1mol/l s dissolved therein. In this case, if the added amount of the LiClO4 is less than this range, the necessary discharge performance can not be obtained and if it is larger than this range, the safety of the electrolyte is deteriorated. In this manner, a nonaqueous electrolyte with high performance and safety can be obtained.
