Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain an additive for cosmetic, capable of controlling a heat softening temperature as a hair setting agent, having excellent water resistance, sweat resistance and war resistance comprising a silicone resin containing >=a specific ratio of units such as CH3SiO3/2. CONSTITUTION:An additive for cosmetic containing >=70mol% (preferably >=75mol%) RSiO3/2 unit (R is substituted or nonsubstituted monofunctional hydrocarbon group) or an additive for cosmetic comprising a silicone resin mixture consisting of (A) a silicone resin made of 70-99mol% RSiO3/2, 5-0mol% SiO2 unit and 30-1mol% (R)2SiO unit and (B) a silicone resin made of 90-100mol% (B)RSiO3/2 unit and 10-0mol% SiO2 unit. The ratio of the latter blended is 0-100 pts.wt. component B based on 100 pts.wt. component A. The additive is useful for make-up cosmetic hair cosmetic, hand cream, etc.
