Summary:PURPOSE:To speedily start edition without executing phase adjustment between the first tape and the second tape by storing a recorded digital signal to a memory in correspondence to an address signal for a time period enough for the first tape to be changed from a stop state to a reproducing state before the edition is started. CONSTITUTION:Before the edition is started, the digital signal recorded to a recording track is stored from the editing point of the first tape 1 to a memory 8 in correspondence to the address signal for the time period enough for the first tape 1 to be changed from the stop state to the reproducing state. At the time of the edition, the second tape 21 is set in the reproducing state and the first tape 1 is set in the reproducing state from the editing point. Until the tape is completely brought to the reproducing state, the digital signal stored in the memory 8 is read synchronously with the address signal reproduced from the second tape 21 and recorded to the recording track of the second tape 21 as the reproducing output signal of the first tape 1. Thus, necessity for the phase adjustment between the first tape 1 and second tape 21 is eliminated and the edition can be speedily started.
