Summary:PURPOSE:To efficiently rear sclerotium having uniform size corresponding to size of basket by making spawn of Poria cocos inoculated in medium of sawdust penetrate into hollow inside of a hollow basket for sclerotium formation through meshes of net of the basket buried in said sawdust medium. CONSTITUTION:A hollow basket for sclerotium formation 3 having fixed meshes of net 4 on peripheral wall is buried in sawdust medium 2 containing nutrient and spawn of Poria cocos fungus in the medium 2 is made to penetrate into hollow inside of the basket 3 through the meshes of net 4. Then solerotium is formed at inside of the hollow part. Namely, spawn of Poria cocos inoculated in the medium 2 makes spawn characteristic of Poria cocos fungus as prestage of sclerotium formation to penetrate at first into gap between particles of sawdust. Then spawn is gradually grown to form spongy spawn lump and sclerotium is formed from said spawn lump by continuing further culturing. Resultant sclerotium 8 by said process is able to be readily taken out from the basket 3. Besides, 1 and 5 in the figure respectively express culturing box and cover of the basket 3.
