Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a high strength duplex stainless steel pipe improved in strength without deteriorating corrosion resistance and toughness by applying cold working to a high-Ni-type duplex stainless steel pipe at the prescribed percentage of reduction of area and then heating the above steel pipe in a specific temp. region for a specified length of time or more. CONSTITUTION:A pipe of a high-N-type duplex stainless steel containing 0.1 to 0.3% N is subjected to cold working at 5 to 50% percentage of reduction of area. Subsequently, the above duplex stainless steel pipe after cold working is heated at 100 to 350 deg.C for >=30min to undergo age hardening treatment. By this method, the high strength duplex stainless steel pipe increased in strength by about 10kg/mm as compared with the ones prepared by the conventional method in which improvement in strength is attained by means of cold working alone, capable of reducing the amount of cold working necessary to obtain the same strength, and also capable of reducing the load applied to the cold working stage can be obtained.
