USE:An antibacterial agent useful for the remedy of diseases caused by bacteria resistant to penicillin antibiotic substances and the remedy of a penicillin- sensitive patient. PREPARATION:A compound (salt) of formula III (R ' is methylene substituted with one or two electron-attracting groups; R is M or carboxylprotecting group removable under acidic condition) is subjected to lactonization reaction under acidic condition.
