Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition applicable to a polyolefin resin substrate and improved in water resistance and solvent resistance by neutralizing free carboxylic acid groups of a specified modified polyolefin and those of a modified resin and dispersing or dissolving the obtained resins in water. CONSTITUTION:A polyolefin of a propylene content >=30wt.% is modified with an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid (e.g. maleic anhydride) to obtain a modified polyolefin (A) of a free carboxylic acid group content of 0.05-0.5 equivalent/100g. A drying oil or a conjugated diene (co)polymer of a number-average MW<=10000 and an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride (e.g. maleic anhydride) are subjected to an addition reaction, and the obtained adduct is subjected to ring- opening reaction with water and/or an alcohol to obtain a modified resin (B) having an ethylenically unsaturated double bond and a free carboxylic acid group. 100 pts.wt. component A is mixed with 5-500 pts.wt. component B, and at least 20mol% of the free carboxylic acid groups are neutralized by the addition of a base, and the neutralized mixture is dispersed or dissolved in water.
