PURPOSE:To use the abbreviated dial table of a telephone set of self-house from the telephone set of a visiting place by allowing a control processor 2 to divide a dialed number into a telephone number and an abbreviated number and to connect the caller telephone set to a telephone set according to the abbreviated number of a registered telephone set. CONSTITUTION:Telephone sets 11-13 are connected mutually through a memory device 3 under the control of a control processor 2 via an exchange network 1, and an abbreviated dial table 20 and an abbreviated dial connection processing 40 are stored in the memory device 3 in addition to processing data required for the conventional exchange. In this case, the number dialed by a 2nd telephone set is separated into a telephone number and an abbreviated number, the abbreviated dial table of a 3rd telephone set corresponding to the telephone number is sought and a destination telephone number corresponding to the abbreviated number is sought and dialed to connect the 2nd telephone set to the 1st telephone set. Thus, even when the telephone number of the destination is forgotten, the destination is called by having only to dial the abbreviated number of the destination telephone set in succession to the telephone number of its own telephone set from the telephone set of a visiting place.
