Summary:PURPOSE:To eliminate remaining frost by a method wherein heating operation and defrosting operation are alternatively repeated a predetermined number of times during heating operation, thereafter in starting heating operation, conditions of heating operation time are cancelled and defrosting operation is started only under conditions on inlet temperature of an outdoor heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION:After heating operation and defrosting operation are alternatively carried out by the number of times (n), a forced heating operation mode is cancelled when a next heating operation mode is set. If inlet temperature TP of an outdoor heat exchanger 3 is lowered than a defrosting operation starting temperature TS, the defrosting operation is started immediately even if a heating operation time TH does not elapse for a specified period of time. With such an arrangement as above, it is possible to eliminate remaining frost after defrosting operation, reduction in heating capability caused by growth of frost and breakage of an outdoor heat exchanger.
