Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain a precursor polymer of excellent mechanical properties, oxidation resistance and compatibility to the matrix for composite materials by heating a specific random copolymer and a polycyclic aromatic compound at a certain temperature. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts.wt. of random copolymer in which at least a part of the silicon element of an organosilicon polymer which is mainly composed of (Si-CH2), or (Si-CH2) and (Si-Si) in which the side chains of Si atoms has substituents selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl or phenyl and the ratio of (Si-CH2):(Si-Si) is 1:(0 to 20) is bonded to the carbons on the aromatic ring in polycyclic aromatic compound prepared by extracting the fraction soluble in an organic solvent and (B) 5 to 90 pts.wt. of polycyclic aromatic carbons which is composed of the mess phase or a mixture thereof with optically isotropic phase which is prepared by heat-treating the component insoluble in the organic solvent in petroleum or coal pitch or their heat-treated product are allowed to react with each another at 200 to 500 deg.C.
