Summary:PURPOSE:To transfer the charge for each transfer channel by arranging plural drive electrodes to each transfer channel while being overlapped with adjacent electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Plural charge transfer channels 11a-11c are isolated electrically by channel stoppers 12a-12d, each charge transfer channel is covered by drive electrodes 13a-14d, driven by the electrodes and the drive electrodes driven by drive pulses phi1, phi2 are not driven overlappingly but have a prescribed interval. Then charge transfer control electrodes 15a-15c are arranged for each transfer channel to cover the interval and the charge transfer control electrodes are driven by pulses phi3a-phi3c. Thus, only the signal charge of a column selected optionally is transferred and the signal charge of other column is kept to the charge transfer channel as it is.
