Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain lanolin safely usable in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics in an extremely simple manner without causing the discoloration of lanolin by removing organic chlorine-base, organic phosphate-base and carbamate-base insecticides from crude lanolin e.g. by vacuum distillation. CONSTITUTION:The objective purified lanolin is produced by removing organic chlorine-base, organic phosphate-base and carbamate-base insecticides (e.g. BHC, aldrin, P,P-DDE, toxaphene, diazinon, dichlorophenthion, bromophos-ethyl, carbophenothion, heptachlor, dieldrin, propetamphos, dioxathion and ethion) from crude lanolin by vacuum distillation, solvent extraction or adsorption with adsorbent.
