Summary:PURPOSE:To reproduce a possibly excellent video independently of a noise level of a reproducing signal by using a detection means to detect the noise level of the reproducing signal and setting the noise reduction quantity in response to the detected noise level. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with a detection means 34 detecting a noise level of a reproducing signal and a noise reduction means 12 whose noise reduction quantity is changed in response to the noise level detected by the detection means 34. Since the noise reduction quantity is changed in response to the noise level, the optimum noise reduction quantity is set independently of the noise level. Thus, a video with excellent resolution is reproduced from a video source with less noise and when noise level is large, since the noise of the source is sufficiently reduced, the disturbance of the reproduced video due to noise is minimized.
