Summary:PURPOSE:To reduce projection to the opening side of a cover, in a roof device which can be opened and closed in either of fore or aft direction, by forming a covering member which covers the projection in a fore/aft direction of a vehicle from the vehicle roof header portion of a frame member out of a header side member and a flexible member side member. CONSTITUTION:A front header 51 provided with the front side portion 4a of a frame member 4 is extended backwards to make such a structure as the front side portion 4a of a frame member 4 is covered with a covering member and the front plate 6 of a flexible member 3. A covering member 52 is installed on the upper panel 51a of the front header 51, and a seal member 53 fitted at one end is brought into contact with the inside of a front plate 6 of the flexible member 3 for sealing. It is thus possible to reduce the projection in the opening of a cover, improving openness feeling on a rear seat.
